Sam's Club VR Experience
Going beyond the expected "pardon our dust" signs, we created a virtual reality experience for the Samsung Gear VR to show Sam's Club members what the newly redesigned flagship Sam's Club will look like.
The stations build on with a style informed by futurist UI, as if the viewer is standing in a hologram, instilling a sense of awe and immersion. Utilizing broad swaths of monochromatic areas, accented with sparing use of color, directed the viewers to the areas that were renovated. Minimalistic and atmospheric – it is beautifully simple. Users could also interact with UI overlays that provide more information about the renovations.
Pairing with that concept, we created a calming futuristic score to accompany the visuals. Immersive quad audio sound design placed the viewer firmly in the sense of space as stations animate on around the viewer.
When the experience rolled out during the renovation process - it was met with enormous attention. On an average day over 300 club members participated in the experience, each leaving astounded and excited for the upcoming amenities. After the renovation was complete, Sam's Club noted that this was the first and only time sales remained stable during a redesign of a club.
